2021 Fall Twirler Announcements - University of Texas

 Hello Texas Twirl Fans!

It is that exciting time of year where twirlers are auditioning for twirling spots for the Fall. This blog hopes to help spread the excitement by announcing the selections for the lovely twirlers we will see on the field very soon in Texas, and representing out of State. If you have an announcement for new twirler selections for 2021-22, please email texastwirlcontact@gmail.com so that we can help spread the word!

Today we are excited to announce the long anticipated selection of the 2021-22 University of Texas Feature Twirler! The University of Texas (UT), located in the live music capital of Texas, is the home of a very prestigious twirling position. The UT Feature Twirler is a highlight of the "Showband of the Southwest". This position has been held by some outstanding twirlers, and the newest addition to the roster fits right in!

For this upcoming Fall, the University of Texas Feature Twirler will be Aidyn Mentry!

Aidyn is new to #TeamTexas, coming to UT from her home in Glen Allen, Virginia, where she was the Feature Twirler for all four years at Deep Run High School. Aidyn is coached by Diane Gunnels and Lindsay Salyers. You may recognize Aidyn as the was the 2020 Twirling to Fight Cancer High School Ambassador, and she was also the 2018 Intermediate Junior Pageant Winner at AYOP.

We had to know what interested this Virginia girl to the ATX? Aidyn tells us that attending the University of Texas has been her dream school for a VERY long time. "I loved UT since the first minute I stepped on campus a few years ago. I fell head over heels in love with Austin and all the traditions at UT, plus the #1 advertising school in the country is at UT Austin. It was a perfect match in so many ways and I am honored to be able to be part of such an incredible legacy of twirlers for the Showband of the Southwest!"

When asked what she is the most excited about, Aidyn told us that she is counting the days until she gets to perform in Darrel K Royal Stadium, but she also "can't wait to meet and hang out with all of the fabulous twirlers from Texas!" We share the sentiment and are ecstatic to welcome Aidyn to our great state. Hook Em!
