Its is now officially State Week! The 2017 NBTA Texas State Championships are in only 5 days! We know twirlers all over the State have been basically living in the gym, practicing with all their heart, and preparing their best for this weekend. We wish everyone the very best of luck and just remember, no matter what happens, smile and enjoy the celebration of our sport and our State coming together. Also, don't forget to hashtag your pictures on social media with #txstatetwirl2018!
To help everyone with their final packing and mental preparations, we have a special message from our fantastic Contest Director, Bethany Tolley, with some last minute FYIs...
- Program/T Shirt/Etc pick up at The Overton Hotel, 2322 Mac Davis Lane 6pm-8pm If you don't pick up then, go to the awards table on Saturday Morning. Even if you didn't order anything you will have a name sign that you will need!
- Saturday events start with the letter S.
- Two and three baton will be on SUNDAY
- We have a large contest and we live in a town where the judges have early flights home on Sunday, SO please be on time to your lanes. The order of appearance is in the program. It is the set system so your name will be by a set number. Please pay attention.
- Our team competition along with Show Twirl, Rhythmic, and Collegiate events is 83 sets!!! Please know that we will be pushing the contestants to take the competition floor quickly and exiting just as fast! Be prepared and ready to go to help move this along.
- If you are staying in the area by Texas Tech University, there are plenty of neat places to eat.
- A special treat is available. The Jones AT&T Stadium on the Campus of Texas Tech University (which is in walking distance from the Overton Hotel) will have a movie night on Friday, June 22. It starts at 7:00pm, but the stadium opens up at 5:30pm. Take blankets to sit on the football field and watch COCO on our big screen. Even if you don't stay for the movie, this is a great opportunity for the contestants to get on a large university football field. Great picture opportunities! Who knows, they say some of the athletes will be around for autographs and pictures too!
- At this time the Coaches Social is still planned to be held immediately after team competition at the contest facility. This may change to the Overton Hotel. I will make announcements at the end of the Pageant competition and the end of the Team Competition.
