 Hello Texas Twirl Fans!

It is that exciting time of year where twirlers are auditioning for twirling spots for the Fall. This blog hopes to help spread the excitement by announcing the selections for the lovely twirlers we will see on the field very soon in Texas and representing out of State. If you have an announcement for new twirler selections for 2023-24, please email texastwirlcontact@gmail.com so that we can help spread the word!

Today we announce the selection of the 2023-24 Sam Houston State University Feature Twirlers!

The SHSU Twirlers, led by Coordinator Kelley McCormick, are the pride of Sam Houston State University. Located in Huntsville, Texas, SHSU is the home of the Bearkats. Following the auditions last weekend, two returning twirlers and two new twirlers were selected to call SHSU field their home!

Returning for her second season will be Katelynn Carter! Katelynn is from Tyler, Texas. She was previously a Feature Twirler at Tyler Junior College before coming to SHSU. She will be a senior this fall and is majoring in English.

Also returning will be Lynsey Threadgill! Lynsey is from Franklin, Texas, and was previously a BMB percussion member before becoming a Feature Twirler last fall. She will be a Senior Criminal Justice major.

Joining the SHSU Twirlers this season will be newly named Feature Twirler, Jeannie Pruett! Jeannie is from Austin, Texas. She started school at SHSU this past January and is so excited to be able to continue as an SHSU Twirler. She will be a Sophomore majoring in Forensic Chemistry with a minor in Forensic Science & Biology.

Also joining the team at Bowers Stadium will be Keira Slone! Keira is from Pittsburg, Texas, where she was a twirler at Pittsburg High School. She will be starting at SHSU in the Fall as a freshman majoring in Plant and Soil Sciences.

We know these four twirlers will just shine together this season, and we can't wait to see them on the field representing their Bearkats. Have an amazing season ladies! Eat Em Up Kats!
