#TexasTwirlersTravel - Jana's Gems at AAU Nationals

Hello Texas Twirl Fans!

It has been awhile. We hope everyone has recovered from AYOP and survived Summer Band Camp. We are so proud of all our school twirlers working hard in this crazy heat, and we cannot wait to learn more about them this season. Have a Middle School, High School, or Collegiate Twirler or Twirling Line that you would like to see interviewed for our Friday Night Lights Feature or Collegiate Twirler Spotlight? Email texastwirlcontact@gmail.com. There are a limited number of interview spots, so the sooner the better!

While we are all so excited for everything this Fall will bring here on the blog, before we jump in to Football Season Twirling, we want to go back to earlier this month and recognize some Texas Twirlers that did an amazing job representing on the National level.

The 2019 AAU Junior Olympic National Baton Twirling Championship was held July 29th to August 1st in Greensboro, North Carolina. Jana's School of Dance & Twirling in West Columbia, TX, sent eight baton twirlers to represent Texas for this year's event. Between these eight twirlers they brought home to the Lone Star State 28 medals. Wow!

While there were many amazing moments during the week, the most exciting placement was the Jana's Senior Gems Small Beginner Dance Twirl Team that brought home the GOLD!

Representing Texas & Jana's Gems at this year's Junior Olympic Games were:
Elizabeth Alexander
Haley Cantrell
Taryn Fojtik
Megan Lazrine
Macy Mahurin
Natalee Stephenson
Ashley Wilkinson
Emily Wittneben

Some other notable placements from these Texas Twirlers included:
*Two GOLD medals from Macy Mahurin in Senior Basic Strut & Senior Military
*Tary Fojtik making the finals in Intermediate One Baton Solo, where she ended up on the podium with a fourth overall placement.

Congrats to these awesome twirlers on a great week at AAU!
