Contest Calendar Series - 2018 Southwest Regional Championships

Hello Texas Twirl Fans!

We hope everyone is back in the swing of competition season. We are only days away from the North Texas Valentine's Twirling Festival... but don't forget to look ahead! This upcoming Friday is very important for the Texas Twirling Community because the entry deadline for Regionals is upon us.

Today for our Contest Calendar Series we will be discussing the 2018 Southwest Regional Championships and Miss Majorette of the Southwest.

*DEADLINE FRIDAY* Please note that the deadline for this competition is Friday, February 9th, 2018. You must have your entry postmarked by this day. Click here to download the entry form. For more information, please contact one of the contest directors at michele.pangrac@gmail.com or patti@mickeysmajorettes.com

Who? What? When? Where? Why?
Who: Contest Directors: Michele Pangrac and Patti Mickey
What: 2018 Southwest Regional Championships & Miss Majorette of the Southwest
When: Saturday, March 17th & Sunday, March 18th, 2018  Doors open at 7:00 am. Contest begins at 8:00 am.
Where: College Park High School - 3701 College Park Drive, The Woodlands, TX 77384

Why: This is the first major competition of the season. The Southwest Regional Championships is a qualifying event for the National pageants and provides the opportunity for competitors to represent the Southwest Region at AYOP this summer at Notre Dame University.

CONTEST HASHTAG: #swregionalstwirl2018
For this event, we strongly encourage our Texas twirlers to utilize the hashtag #swregionalstwirl2018 when posting photos of this competition on social media. Please also tag the Twirling is Catching FB page or Instagram account (@twirlingiscatchingtx) and we might share your picture on our social media!

Unique Feature: When Regionals is in The Woodlands, you can always expect a well run contest with nice awards, and lots of facility space for competition and practice across the three gyms. This year's event also falls on St. Patrick's Day, so don't forget to wear green. "May the Luck 'O the Irish be with all the twirlers!"

To help everyone wear green, the Contest Directors have designed a super cute t-shirt and tank top to commemorate the event. The T-Shirt is only $20 and will be mint green with a similar logo to the one here and will list all the competitor names on the back. The racerback tank top is only $15 and will be apple green with the below logo on the front. Need a 2X but don't see it on the entry form? Write it on the side and add $3. This way everyone can have a super cute green shirt to wear for St. Patrick's Day!
Highlighted Event: There are two traveling trophies at this event that are in memory of two important people to the twirling community.  The College Miss Majorette of the Southwest is awarded the Tony Pierce Memorial Award. This award was started in 2008 by Janice Jackson Seamands and supported by the Pierce/Johnson/Ashcraft/Mayben Families. The Teenage Miss Majorette of the Southwest is awarded the Shane Downey Memorial Trophy.  This award was started in 2012 by the Mickey and Payne Families.  Both are very prestigious awards and a special part of the Southwest Regional Championships.
