Hello Texas Twirl Fans!
Can you believe it has already been a month since the 2024 Competition Season wrapped up with the National Baton Twirling Championship! Our Texas Twirlers did an amazing job in South Bend, and we want to make sure before football season kicks off and our focus moves to those stadium lights, that we celebrate our State Pageant Winners and say thank you to our State director, Sheila Payne Rigelsky, and her team.
To celebrate our Texas State Pageant title holders, over the next week, we will be recognizing them here on the blog. Congrats to all of these talented twirlers on their success at State! Go #TeamTexas!
Today we will be recognizing the 2024 Texas State Basic Skills Pageant Winners!
Junior Basic Skills Pageant Winner
Bella Mora
Bella is from Houston, TX, where she attends St. Anne's. She is coached by Sue Young of the Texas Twirlers. Her favorite memory from State was getting to hang out with her teammates!
Juvenile Basic Skills Pageant Winner &
Pre-Teen Basic Skills Pageant Winner
Lillian Meek & Kayla Meek
There is something special about sisters being crowned together! Kayla (Pre-Teen) and Lillian (Juvenile) both twirled with the Twirling Sweet Sensations where they are coached by Michele
Pangrac. The Meeks are a military
family that was living in Cibolo but are now on the move again to Virginia! Their favorite memory from State was spending
one last weekend with their friends and cheering each other on. Kayla also
adds that she loved competing for the first time in team and duet. They hope
to continue twirling in Virginia and catch up with their Texas team in the future!
Tiny Tot Basic Skills Pageant Winner
Ivy Bernal
Ivy is from Corpus Christi, Texas, where she attends the Metro Elementary School of Design and is looking forward to being a Mascot Twirler for a local CCISD High School for the 2024-2025 school year. She is a member of the Texas Stingerettes and is coached by Kim Berger. Her favorite memory from State was the feeling of acceptance she personally felt as she realized her name was called among her family and peers to honorably accept this title. Ivy says that she believes with hard work, this is her first of many future titles she has her eye on.
