Contest Calendar Series - Texas Championship Twirler 2019

Hello Texas Twirl Fans!

What an exciting couple of weeks we have coming up. Great contest yesterday in Desoto, only a few days away from Texas twirlers competing at the East Texas Twirling Festival or Twirl Mania, plus, can you believe the Southwest Regional Championship is only five weeks away? Wow! If you still need to get those routines on the floor before then, don't worry! You still have one more chance!

Today's Contest Calendar Series is the 2019 Texas Championship Twirler Contest in Corpus Christi!

Who? What? When? Where? Why?
Who: Contest Director: Nancy Eisenhauer. Assistant Directors: Keely Davis & Kim Berger.
What: 2019 Texas Championship Twirler Contest
When: Saturday, March 2, 2019. Doors open at 7:30 am. Teams begin at 8:30 am.
Where: Flour Bluff High School Varsity Gym - 2505 Waldron Rd, Corpus Christi, TX 78418
Why: While this is not only a great contest, it is also your last chance to get on the competition floor in the State of Texas before Regionals. It is also a great excuse to hit the beach!


CONTEST HASHTAG: #corpustwirl2019
For this event, we strongly encourage our Texas twirlers to utilize the hashtag #corpustwirl2019 when posting photos of this competition on social media. Please also tag the Twirling is Catching FB page or Instagram account (@twirlingiscatchingtx), and we might share your picture on our social media!

Highlighted Event: The Corpus Christi contest is well known for being the home of the "Toss Contests". Each year (separately) the moms, the dads, and the twirlers get a chance to face off in a toss contest! There is no additional cost to enter. Just make sure to listen for the announcement and join the others on the floor.


Unique Feature: This contest offers some fun prizes! Not only do 1st-5th place in the Model/Mini Pageant receive TIARAS, there will be $5 Target Gift Cards handed out as the Sportsmanship awards!

Reminders from the Directors: 
1. The day will start with teams in the morning and then will move on to modeling events.
2. All modeling events will be done in costume, including mini pageant and advanced pageant.
3. As modeling will occur after teams, hair may be up or down for modeling events.

Contest Calendar Series - 2019 Southwest Regional Championships

Welcome to February! Competition season is officially in full swing. The North Plains contest just wrapped up, and we are only days away from the Dallas Twirling Festival. Plus, one of the most important contest deadlines of the season is upon us. Keeping up with all the contest by visiting www.texastwirl.com.

For today's Contest Calendar Series we will be discussing the 2019 Southwest Regional Championships and Miss Majorette of the Southwest competition in Fort Worth.

Who? What? When? Where? Why?
Who: Contest Director Vicki Ray
What: 2019 Southwest Regional Championships & Miss Majorette of the Southwest
When: Saturday, March 16 & Sunday, March 17, 2019. Doors open at 7:00 am. Contest begins at 8:00 am.
Where: VR Eaton High School, 1350 Eagle Blvd, Fort Worth, TX 76052


Why: This is the first major competition of the season. The Southwest Regional Championships is a qualifying event for the National pageants and provides the opportunity for competitors to represent the Southwest Region at AYOP this summer at Notre Dame University.

Unique Feature: When Regionals is in Fort Worth Texas , you can always expect a smooth contest with nice awards, and lots of facility space for competition and practice across the three gyms. As this year's event also falls on St. Patrick's Day, our Southwest Regional Tee shirts will be heather gray with our unique Logo in green.  You can order your Tee with your Southwest entry.

Highlighted Event: Southwest Regionals has many very special traditions. There are two traveling trophies at this event that are in memory of two important people to the twirling community.  The College Miss Majorette of the Southwest is awarded the Tony Pierce Memorial Award. This award was started in 2008 by Janice Jackson Seamands and supported by the Pierce/Johnson/Ashcraft/Mayben Families. The Teenage Miss Majorette of the Southwest is awarded the Shane Downey Memorial Trophy.  This award was started in 2012 by the Mickey and Payne Families.  Both are very prestigious awards and a special part of the Southwest Regional Championships.


This year we also have a very special guest. Adaline Bebo, the reigning College Miss Majorette of America, will have a presentation and will assist in the awards ceremony.

FYI's from the Director: Southwest regionals corresponds with many spring break school holidays.  With that in mind don’t forget the whole family.  The DFW area is FULL of fun entertainment and sport venues.  Come early and enjoy your family or stay after and celebrate in all the fun attractions.
