Friday Night Lights Feature - Seven Lakes High School

Hello Texas Twirl Fans!

Welcome to Band-Tober! Every twirler that is a part of their marching band understands that Band-Tober means band, band, and more band all month long! It is an exhausting month, but we all know we love it, especially when it means more and more twirling on those fields!

Each season this blog likes to get to know many of our awesome Texas twirlers a little better by learning about their experiences. We will be meeting many High School twirlers throughout the season with the Friday Night Lights Features and discovering more about our Texas Collegians with the Collegiate Twirler Spotlights. We will also be having many of our High School and Collegiate twirlers take over our social media Story for their Game Days! Make sure to follow us on Instagram @twirlingiscatchingtx or at facebook.com/twirlingiscatchingtx so you don't miss a thing!

This season’s next Friday Night Lights Feature is the Seven Lakes High School Feature Twirler!

Seven Lakes High School, located in Katy, Texas, is the home of the Spartans, and one super busy baton twirler! Jaidyn Poole has been able to do something not many can… she is not only the Feature Twirler with the marching band, where she performs in their competition show, but she is also the Colonel of their dance team, the Sapphires! Between Sapphires practices, and marching band rehearsals, Jaidyn is able to show her school spirit in every way possible!

When Jaidyn was entering Seven Lakes, they did not have a current baton twirler, so her audition process was more about talking to the band director about the possibilities. Luckily, her band director was open to her twirling, and she is currently the only twirler in Katy ISD!

We asked Jaidyn what her favorite thing about SLHS is, and she said the School Spirit! “We do a lot of things to show school spirit such as rotunda rallies, pep rallies, state send offs, parades and the obvious football games.” While Jaidyn loves all these great events, her favorite though is the Homecoming parade!

As this is Jaidyn’s senior year, it is full of last firsts, and last lasts. We know being as involved in her school as she is, there must be a lot of memories and emotions as her time wraps up. We wanted to know what she is looking forward to the most this year, and she told us she is excited for all the senior
year festivities and the senior night football game!

Now that we have learned more about her time at SLHS, let’s learn more about Jaidyn!

Jaidyn Poole
,
Senior
Competition Level: Advanced
Jaidyn has been twirling for 9 years. She is a member of the Mickey’s Majorettes and is coached by Patti Mickey & Kayli Mickey-McIntosh. The twirling achievement she is the proudest of was making the World Team for X-Strut and getting to be a part of Team USA for the 2023 IBTF World Championship! Jaidyn’s favorite competition trick is any back neck combination, and her favorite field tricks are toss walkovers and toss aerials. In baton twirling, she has been most inspired by former UT & Baylor Feature Twirler, Caroline Carothers. After high school, Jaidyn wants to major in Fashion Marketing with a possible minor in Dance. “I hope to one day open my own dance and twirling studio. Also, one of my biggest goals has always been to serve as a Feature Twirler for a top University. If that does not happen, then I would also love serving on a college dance team.”

Favorite tradition or inside joke within your spirit program...
“Bucket Night! This is a Sapphire Dance Team tradition. Moms decorate paint buckets for their child, and the buckets are stuffed with small token gifts and letters from friends and family. It is always fun to see how they choose to decorate a bucket that represents their child and the year and loads of fun to read the letters. Bob and Sue night is another Dance Team tradition where we dance halftime with our
dads.”

What will you miss the most when marching season is over?
“Performing & having fun in the stands with my team.”

We loved following Jaidyn’s journey from dance team, to game day, to marching band, and we wish her an amazing rest of her Senior year! Stay Classy Seven Lakes!
