Friday Night Lights Feature - Tatum High School

Hello Texas Twirl Fans!

October has come and gone, and November is here, which means we are coming to the end of this football season! How sad is that? We still have a few more opportunities left to see these twirlers doing what they do best, so what better way to start this weekend than with this awesome twirling line!

Each season this blog likes to get to know many of our awesome Texas twirlers a little better by learning about their experiences. We will be meeting many High School twirlers throughout the season with the Friday Night Lights Features and discovering more about our Texas Collegians with the Collegiate Twirler Spotlights. We will also be having many of our High School and Collegiate twirlers take over our Social Media Story for their Game Days! Make sure to follow us on Instagram @twirlingiscatchingtx or at facebook.com/twirlingiscatchingtx so you don't miss a thing!

Our next Friday Night Lights Feature is the Tatum High School Twirlers!

Tatum High School, located in Tatum, TX, is the home of the Eagles. It is also the home of lots of great twirlers! Representing in the green and white this season, led by their coach Marisha George, the Tatum HS Twirlers include Keira George (Captain and Feature Twirler), Isabella Baker, Tyranny Bridges, Samantha Watson, Hadley Dunnavant, Laney Stelpflug, AnnaBella Olive, Melissa Ramos, Sofia Rice, Allie Robledo, and Kadynce Sipes.

A fun fact about Tatum is that it is such a small town, they only have one four-way stop, and no traffic lights in the entire town, but they have produced several NFL players! Wow!

In order to earn their spots at a Tatum HS Twirler, they each have to go through a set audition process. “We have 3 outside judges. The girls learn a group routine a week or so before tryouts. For tryouts they perform the group routine and fundamentals in groups of 3-4, and then show the judges a solo routine. Those who are auditioning for captain also have to interview with the judges.”

Being in a small town, the people of Tatum all know each other, but that is one of their favorite things about being from there. “Everyone knows everyone, so it always feels like home. It’s like one big family at Tatum.”

As any great family does, Tatum HS has tons of fun traditions including decorating homecoming hallways, black light pep rally, Chop during kick off, and the joint routine they do with the cheerleaders/drill team/twirlers. Even the band has their own special set including senior night shenanigans, MAUD MAUD!, the buzzard awards, band olympics, “Welcome to My Show”, and of course, CARROT!!

With all of the amazing traditions, we asked which ones the twirlers enjoyed being a part of the most this season, and they couldn’t pick just one! “We had so much fun at the award ceremonies at competitions, during homecoming week, and at the black light pep rally!”

Now that we have learned more about life in Tatum, let’s learn more about the Twirlers!
