2023 Southwest Regional Pageant Winners - Basic Skills

Hello Texas Twirl Fans! 

What an amazing weekend we had earlier this month at the 2023 Southwest Regional Championship that was held in Canyon, Texas, on April 1st and 2nd. We are so thankful for the amazing contest directors, Gretta Johnson, Brittany Ashcraft, and Summer Johnson, for making it all happen. It was a wonderful event! 

To celebrate our new Regional Pageant title holders, over the next few weeks, we will be recognizing them here on the blog. Congrats to all of these talented twirlers on their success at Regionals. 

Today we will be recognizing the 2023 Southwest Regional Basic Skills Pageant Winners!





Addisyn Speck
Senior Basic Skills Pageant Winner 

Addisyn is from Lubbock where she is the Feature Twirler for Shallowater High School. She is coached by Amanda Tolley. Her favorite memory from regionals was "getting to hang out with the Texas Tech twirling line, and seeing all of those amazing girls compete!"


Micaiah Hubbard
Junior Basic Skills Pageant Winner 

Micaiah is from Cibolo, Texas, where she is a Feature Twirler at Byron P. Steele High School. She is a member of the Twirling Sweet Sensations and is coached by Michele Pangrac. Her favorite memory from regionals was being able to sit with all of her teammates at the awards. She enjoyed sitting on blankets on the competition floor and celebrating each other's accomplishment together as a team. She loved being able to cheer on her teammates and be celebrated by them as well after all the hard work! 


Ainsley Martin
Pre-Teen Basic Skills Pageant Winner 

Ainsley is from Schertz, Texas. She is a member of the Twirling Sweet Sensations and is coached by Michele Pangrac. Her favorite memories from her very first regionals were getting her first no drop solo and, of course, winning her pageant! She is looking forward to attending AYOP later this year and getting to compete with twirlers from all across the country. 


Kate Gourley
Juvenile Basic Skills Pageant Winner 

Kate is from San Antonio, Texas. She is a member of the Twirling Sweet Sensations and is coached by Michele Pangrac. Her favorite memory from Regionals was "having fun with my sweet and supportive twirl friends!"


Kaitlyn Kondo
Little Miss Basic Skills Pageant Winner 

Kaitlyn is from the Austin, Texas, area. She is a member of Twirl ATX and is coached by Amber Sorenson & Ashley Wood, as well as Whitney Coons & Kaylee Williams. Her favorite memory from Regionals was receiving a tiara, and now she is looking forward to competing at her first State!

2023 Fall Twirler Announcements - North Carolina State University

Hello Texas Twirl Fans!

It is that exciting time of year where twirlers are auditioning for twirling spots for the Fall. This blog hopes to help spread the excitement by announcing the selections for the lovely twirlers we will see on the field very soon in Texas and representing out of State. Today we are announcing the newest North Carolina State University Feature Twirler!


North Carolina State University, also known as NC State, is located in Raleigh, North Carolina. NC State is the home of the Wolfpack, and as of this coming Fall, is the new home of Texas Twirler, Amber Sorenson!

Amber is from Round Rock, Texas, where she is a member of Twirl ATX, and is coached by Ashley Wood as well as Whitney Coons and Kaylee Williams. Amber has been a Feature Twirler for Stony Point High School for the last four years and is the Twirling 2 Fight Cancer High School Ambassador. She also does team with Forte out of Georgia and will be performing with them in England at the World Championship this August. 


After a visit to Raleigh and performing in the NC State Twirler Day, Amber fell in love with the campus, the people, and the Wolfpack Twirling program. Last month when they held auditions, it was truly a dream come true when they invited Amber to be the newest member of the Pack Twirlers. Amber is so excited to join returning twirlers Claudia Swauger, Robbie Leske, and Kira Greer in Carter-Finley Stadium this Fall! 

Congrats Amber! We are so excited to see you living out your dreams GO PACK!

2023 Fall Twirler Announcements - Clemson Tiger Twirler

Hello Texas Twirl Fans!

It is that exciting time of year where twirlers are auditioning for twirling spots for the Fall. This blog hopes to help spread the excitement by announcing the selections for the lovely twirlers we will see on the field very soon in Texas and representing out of State. Today we are announcing one of the new 2022-23 Clemson University Tiger Twirlers!

Clemson University, located in Clemson, South Carolina, is the home of the Tigers, and a legacy of amazing twirlers! This coming fall it will also be the home of Texas girl turned Clemson Tiger Twirler, Jordan Chmiel!

Jordan is from Round Rock, Texas, where she has been a Feature Twirler at Stony Point High School, and the President of the SPHS Band. She is coached by Ashley Wood, as well as Whitney Coons & Kaylee Williams of Twirl ATX. At Clemson, Jordan was selected for their prestigious Nursing Program and the CU Honors College, both of which have a very low acceptance rate. Pairing her academic goals with making the Tiger Twirling line is just a dream come true for Jordan!

A little fun fact about Jordan is that she was a Tiger for Elementary School, High School, and now could not be more excited to continue to call herself a Tiger in college!

The Clemson Tiger Twirlers, who sparkle and shine as they entertain the crowds in Death Valley, have a reputation for being a line of lovely and talented athletes from all over the country. They are known for their precision, grace, and being a joy to watch. This Fall, Jordan will be joined on the field by returning twirlers Nicole, Gunnison, Annelise, Claire, Caitlin, Cordray, & Alex, and new twirlers Bailey, Lyndsie, Nicole, and Kristina, as well as returning Feature Twirler, Anna White, and Freshman Feature Twirler, Sophia Lutz. 

We all want to wish a huge congrats to Jordan as she represents Texas at Clemson! Go Tigers!

2023 Fall Twirler Announcements - Sam Houston State University

 Hello Texas Twirl Fans!

It is that exciting time of year where twirlers are auditioning for twirling spots for the Fall. This blog hopes to help spread the excitement by announcing the selections for the lovely twirlers we will see on the field very soon in Texas and representing out of State. Today we announce the selection of the 2023-24 Sam Houston State University Feature Twirlers!



The SHSU Twirlers, led by Coordinator Kelley McCormick, are the pride of Sam Houston State University. Located in Huntsville, Texas, SHSU is the home of the Bearkats. Following the auditions last weekend, two returning twirlers and two new twirlers were selected to call SHSU field their home! 


Returning for her second season will be Katelynn Carter! Katelynn is from Tyler, Texas. She was previously a Feature Twirler at Tyler Junior College before coming to SHSU. She will be a senior this fall and is majoring in English. 



Also returning will be Lynsey Threadgill! Lynsey is from Franklin, Texas, and was previously a BMB percussion member before becoming a Feature Twirler last fall. She will be a Senior Criminal Justice major. 



Joining the SHSU Twirlers this season will be newly named Feature Twirler, Jeannie Pruett! Jeannie is from Austin, Texas. She started school at SHSU this past January and is so excited to be able to continue as an SHSU Twirler. She will be a Sophomore majoring in Forensic Chemistry with a minor in Forensic Science & Biology. 



Also joining the team at Bowers Stadium will be Keira Slone! Keira is from Pittsburg, Texas, where she was a twirler at Pittsburg High School. She will be starting at SHSU in the Fall as a freshman majoring in Plant and Soil Sciences. 

We know these four twirlers will just shine together this season, and we can't wait to see them on the field representing their Bearkats. Have an amazing season ladies! Eat Em Up Kats!

2023 Fall Twirler Announcements - Baylor University

Today we announce the selection of the 2023-24 Baylor University Golden Girl Feature Twirlers!

The Baylor Golden Girls, led by Coordinator Lynn Dell Harrell, are well respected twirling positions in the community, and have been held by some very talented twirlers. We are super excited to see that this Fall season will continue that tradition with four returning twirlers, and one new addition to the Golden Girls roster!

Returning this season will be veteran Golden Girls, Mallory Remm and Danielle Skinner, Mallory Reynier, & Josie D'Acquisto, and joining them on the field will be newcomer, Maggie Chrudimsky!

We have loved watching the returning Golden Girls on the field for the last two seasons and can't wait to see what they bring to the 2023 season. Mallory Reem is from Sussex, Wisconsin, and is studying Communication Sciences & Disorders. Danielle Skinner is from Saskatchewan, Canada, and is studying Journalism and Pre-Law. Josie D'Acquisto is from Redding, California, and is studying engineering. Mallory Reynier is from Fairhope, Alabama, and is studying Health, Kinesiology and Leisure Studies (Pre-PT). 

New to the field this year will be Maggie Chrudimsky! Maggie is from Hutto, Texas, where she was the Hutto High School Feature Twirler. She is also on Team USA and will be representing in three baton at the Nations Cup event in England. Maggie is most excited about getting to march to McLane Stadium on game days, and we know she will be a great addition to the Golden Girls! 


What an amazing group of twirlers to be together on the same field. Makes you want to break out your green and gold and yell "Sic Em Bears!" We want to give a big welcome to Maggie and a congrats to Mallory, Danielle, Mallory, & Josie. We wish you all a wonderful football season!

2023 Fall Twirler Announcements - Stephen F. Austin State University

 Hello Texas Twirl Fans!

It is that exciting time of year where twirlers are auditioning for twirling spots for the Fall. This blog hopes to help spread the excitement by announcing the selections for the lovely twirlers we will see on the field very soon in Texas or representing out of State. Today's post announces the selection of the 2023-24 Stephen F Austin Feature Twirler & Twirl-O-Jacks!

SFA, located in Nacogdoches, TX, has a "timeless" reputation regarding baton twirlers thanks to their Twirl-O-Jack twirling line. The TOJ's are know for their "Grace...Poise...Style!" They perform at football games and many events representing their University.

The Lumberjacks are also proud to annually present their Feature Twirler who performs separate, but complimentary, of the TOJs! Auditions for both the Feature Twirler position and the Twirl-O-Jacks were held in March on the SFA Campus. 

The 2023-24 Twirl-O-Jack twirling line will be led by returning Head Twirl-O-Jack, Samantha Denby, and new Assistant Head Twirl-O-Jack, Clair Hunter. 


These ladies will be joined by returning TOJs Erica Bitner, Julianna McKinney, Charity Volkman, & Makayla Oliver, and new TOJS Hannah Massey, Samantha Taylor, & Kyleigh Pawlik. 

For 2023-24, SFA is excited to welcome back returning Lumberjack Feature Twirler, Kellen Coke! Kellen is coached by Patti Mickey & Kayli Mickey McIntosh with the Mickey's Majorettes, and Jeri Coke with Twirl Revolutions. She loved being able to live out her dream as the SFA Feature Twirler last year and cannot wait for another amazing season supporting her Jacks!

Congrats to Feature Twirler Kellen, Head Twirl-O-Jack Samantha, Asst. Head Twirl-O-Jack Clair, and all the 2023-24 Twirl-O-Jacks. We know you all will continue the T-O-J tradition of exciting and original performances this coming Fall. Go Jacks!
